iPhone Availability

When is the iPhone available, & how much does it cost?

Mark your calendars, the iPhone will be available June 29th, at 6:00 p.m. local time, meaning at 6:00 p.m. your local time. Stores on the East Coast will sell their iPhones a full three hours ahead of those on the West Coast. Oh--and you'll be limited to just two iPhones so they can ensure there's enough love to go around. Budget accordingly.

What is the price of the iPhone? Retailers are saying that the iPhone will cost $500 for the 4 GB model and $600 for the 8GB model.

Stores carrying the iPhone (apparently only the Apple retail locations and AT&T Corporate stores... not Cingular or AT&T licensed dealers) are going to close at 4:30 p.m. local time and re-open for iPhone sales between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.

What will buyers receive with their coveted iphone? The iPhone includes photo, ipod, email, text, web browsing and Visual Voicemail functions. (Read more about the iPhone.)

The iPhone requires a two-year contract for service. (Wow that sucks!)

A snap-shot of cool iPhone specs include:

  • Thickness: 11.6 mm
  • Screen size: 3.5"
  • Display surface: Glass
  • Talk time: 8 hours
  • Internet use: 6 hours
  • Video playback: 7 hours
  • Audio playback: 24 hours

I got to play with an iPhone a couple days ago at a apple store... now there are some pretty cool features I mean weve all seen the commercials right? Who doesn't want that phone but another thing you have to look at is the price $500-$600 is way too much I mean it's only a phone but on the other hand... if I had that much money lying around I would buy it above all else because it is still a very good piece of equipment... just a little pricy and the two year thing yeah that may be bad but... YOU BOUGHT AN Iphone!!! why would you buy the best phone their is and sell it in less than two years? Yeah I know theirs probably some bugs but still. I trust apple even if this is their first phone...

I think that it DOES suck that you have to have a two year contract. I mean COME ON! Also the price is what it is about too. Some people think it is too expensive. It is but think about what you are getting. Their is another phone that does the same exact stuff except for the ipod. It has an MP3 player. And it isn't screen touchable abd I think that it is much more less than the iphone.

Recently featured in Popular Science magazine is the NEO1973, an I phone alternative that sells for about the same price and is OPEN-SOURCE, allowing any and all applications to run on it.

That's amazing! $500 to $800 for the phone! It looks like a pretty good phone. I wonder when it will come to Australia?
